Widgets — Embed Your Google Reviews on Your Website
ReviewRover's Widget tool lets you create an embeddable Google Reviews display for your website. It pulls your real Google reviews and showcases them directly on your site — building trust with visitors and turning your review history into a live sales asset.
Two Ways to Get a Widget
ReviewRover offers widgets in two places:
Inside your dashboard — Create a widget tied to your connected Google Business Profile. Managed from your ReviewRover account alongside all your other tools.
Free public tool — No account required. Visit reviewrover.co/google-review-widgets and create a widget for any business using a Google Maps URL. Great for agencies building widgets for clients or for any business that wants a quick embed without signing up.
This article covers the dashboard widget. For the public tool, the process is the same — find your GBP, configure, and embed.
Free vs. Widget Pro
| Feature | Free | Widget Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Reviews displayed | Up to 5 | Up to 50 |
| "Powered by ReviewRover" branding | Shown | Hidden |
| Show Business Reply | No | Yes |
| Price | Included | $10/month or $70/year |
Widget Pro is $10/month or $70/year (save $30). You can upgrade directly from the Create Widget screen inside your dashboard.
How to Create a Widget
Step 1: Go to Widgets Click Widgets in the left sidebar. If you haven't created a widget yet, click Create Your First Widget. If you have existing widgets, click Create Widget in the top-right corner.
Step 2: Select Your Google Business Profile Choose from your connected GBP accounts, or paste a Google Maps URL directly if you want to pull reviews from a GBP that isn't connected to your ReviewRover account.
Step 3: Name Your Widget Enter a Widget Name — this is for your internal reference only and won't be visible to website visitors. Use something descriptive like "Homepage Reviews" or "Services Page Widget."
Step 4: Choose Your Layout Select either List or Grid:
- List — reviews display in a vertical stack, one per row. Works well in sidebars or narrow content areas
- Grid — reviews display in a multi-column grid. Works well in wider page sections and looks great on desktop
Step 5: Configure Your Display Options
Adjust the following settings to control how reviews appear:
- Max Reviews — slider to set how many reviews display. Free accounts are capped at 5; Widget Pro shows up to 50
- Preview Text Length — slider to control how many characters of each review are shown before being truncated. Default is 150 characters
- Show Reviewer Name — checkbox, on by default
- Show Reviewer Picture — checkbox, on by default
- Show Date — checkbox, on by default
- Show Rating — checkbox, on by default
- Show Business Reply — Widget Pro only. Shows your reply beneath each review if one exists
- Hide "Powered by ReviewRover" Branding — Widget Pro only
Step 6: Create Your Widget Click Create Widget. Your widget will be generated and the embed code will be provided for you to place on your website.
Adding the Widget to Your Website
Copy the embed code provided after creating your widget and paste it into your website where you want the reviews to appear. The exact process depends on your website platform:
- WordPress — paste the embed code into a Custom HTML block in the page editor
- Wix — use an HTML Embed element and paste the code inside
- Squarespace — use a Code block and paste the embed code
- Shopify — paste into your theme's HTML editor in the relevant section
- Other platforms — any platform that supports custom HTML or embed codes will work
If you're not sure how to add custom HTML to your site, your web developer or the platform's support team can help.
Managing Your Widgets
All your created widgets appear on the Widgets page in your dashboard. From here you can view, edit, or delete any existing widget. Changes to a widget's settings update the embed automatically — you don't need to replace the code on your website after editing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do widgets update automatically with new reviews? Yes. Widgets pull live data from your Google Business Profile. As new reviews come in, the widget updates automatically without any action needed on your part.
Can I create multiple widgets for different pages? Yes. You can create as many widgets as you need — for example, one for your homepage, one for a services page, and one for a location-specific page.
Can I create a widget for a GBP that isn't connected to my ReviewRover account? Yes — use the Google Maps URL option on the Create Widget screen, or use the free public tool at reviewrover.co/google-review-widgets.
Does Widget Pro apply to all my widgets or just one? Widget Pro unlocks premium features for all widgets in your account.
What happens to my widget if I cancel Widget Pro? Your widget reverts to free plan limits — reviews displayed will cap at 5 and the ReviewRover branding will reappear.
Can I change the layout or settings after the widget is created? Yes. Edit your widget from the Widgets page at any time. Changes apply to the embed immediately.
