Instant Message
Instant Message lets you send a one-off review request to a single contact directly from your dashboard — no CRM, no CSV, no automation required. It's the fastest way to reach a customer right now, whether you're standing in front of them at the end of a job or following up on a recent service.
Where to Find It
Click the blue Instant Message button pinned at the top of the left sidebar. It's always visible regardless of which page you're on inside the dashboard.
Free vs. Paid
Free accounts include 10 lifetime Instant Messages. A progress bar on the page shows how many you've used and how many remain. Once you subscribe to a paid plan, Instant Message is unlimited.
How to Send an Instant Message
Step 1: Enter the contact's details
Fill in the following fields on the left side of the screen:
- Full Name — the customer's first and last name
- Email Address — used to send the email outreach
- Phone Number — used to send the SMS. The field validates the number in real time and shows a green checkmark when the format is correct.
Step 2: Choose what to send
Under Send Messages, two checkboxes are selected by default:
- Send Email — sends the email review request immediately
- Send SMS — sends the text message review request immediately
You can uncheck either one if you only want to send via a single channel. For best results, leave both checked.
Step 3: Preview your message
The right side of the screen shows a live Message Preview — the exact SMS and email that will be sent to the contact, including the subject line and body copy. The message content is pulled directly from your Flow settings.
Want to change the message? The Instant Message content mirrors what's in your Flow Builder. To update the copy, go to Review Request Flow > Flow and edit the first SMS or email step. The change will reflect in Instant Message automatically.
Step 4: Send
Click Send Instant Message. Both messages fire immediately.
Important — What Instant Message Does and Doesn't Do
Instant Message sends the first SMS and first email from your flow immediately — it is a one-time send. It does not enroll the contact into your full automated drip sequence. If you want a contact to go through the complete multi-step flow, use Enroll New Contact on the Contacts page instead.
When to Use Instant Message
- You've just completed a job on-site and want to send a review request before leaving
- A happy customer mentioned they'd leave a review — send it while the conversation is fresh
- You're following up on a recent job and want to reach out directly without uploading a CSV
- A team member in the field wants to send a quick request from their phone
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the contact get enrolled in my automated flow after receiving an Instant Message? No. Instant Message is a standalone send. It does not trigger your drip sequence. To enroll someone in the full flow, use Enroll New Contact on the Contacts page.
Can I send Instant Message without a phone number? Yes — uncheck Send SMS and the message will go out via email only. However, SMS is typically the higher-performing channel so including a phone number is recommended where possible.
Does the 10 free message limit reset? No. The 10 free lifetime Instant Messages do not reset. Subscribe to a paid plan for unlimited sends.
Can I customize the message before sending? Not from the Instant Message screen directly. To update the copy, edit the first step of your flow in the Flow Builder — the change applies to all future Instant Messages automatically.
